Located in the heart of the picture postcard Kent village of Ightham, The George & Dragon dates back to c1515. Popular Folklore has it that it was here that Guy Fawkes' foiled Gun Powder plot was hatched and it is a rumoured that Queen Elizabeth I herself was once a visitor here. Engraved in the wooden Fireplace is the Duke of Northumberland's' Knot, said to be carved by the Duke himself when he was kept imprisoned in the old restaurant.
